I’m getting old
I remember when I could dance circles around anyone, party all night, and be the last one standing on any dance floor. Now I can barely get through my own choreography! Daily dance rehearsal has really been kicking my butt, and I’ve been quite embarrassed about teaching a routine that I can just barely do without collapsing in an exhausted heap at the end.
However, I have several decent excuses. The first being that I now have the lungs of a forty year old chain smoker. 8 months in China or however long I’ve been here will do that to you. I sometimes go to nightclubs and can only dance for 15 minute stretches because I literally can’t breathe, there is too much smoke and my lungs just can’t take it. I need to move to Hong Kong. Smoke Free 2007!
I also have been really sick this past week, with who knows what. My teachers have thought up a variety of causes for my illness, including:
The air is too wet, germs spread faster.
I’ve been drinking cold water, which is bad for the health.
I don’t eat enough fruit.
The change in temperature from night to day is too great. (um, 22 degree Celsius lows, 28 degree highs?)
This time around I have mostly escaped the concerned Chinese teacher freak outs. I have so far avoided a trip to the doctor and the insistence that I get a shot for something or another. However I have been unable to avoid the many visits to my house, unsolicited medical advice, and heaps of new Chinese medicines they force me to take. However, I do I get a lot of free food and fruit whenever I am sick, and this time around, I even got a large bottle of Baileys! Sometimes being sick is better than not being sick

Baileys? What was the medical reason for that one?
alcohol kills germs?
Have you been eating any street food lately?
Mom
Always with the street food. Honestly, pineapple on a stick is fruit, sort of.
I hope you’re wearing long underwear…
